Finally, a sunny Sunday afternoon. It had been been weekend after weekend of gray, snowy skies, but the cold snap finally broke for one sunny afternoon. I was so glad that my friends wanted to get outside and go exploring! Sleighton Farm School is a huge campus of early 20th century buildings that was established around 1910 as a reform school. The school first housed court-ordered girls for over 70 years before becoming co-ed. Sleighton closed in 2001 and left behind dozens of buildings that are seemingly stuck on the last day of school. The campus was sold in 2012, so it probably won’t be around much longer. It’s a shame because it is a lovely place. The property was still covered in snow when we visited, but imagine these stately buildings covered in greenery!
